Information You Do Not Find Out With 29 Questions

Several months ago, some friends convinced me to try online dating. I had been single for quite some time and I just was not meeting anyone where I felt we had a possible future together.
I became a member of one of the largest online dating services. I completed a personality profile comprised of more than 28, but less than 30 questions. It was amazing how many people turned out to be my perfect match. There were hundreds in the first week.
My ego got quite a boost, finding out that I was Mr. Right for so many lucky ladies.
Over the next several weeks, compatibility and interest issues made the potential mates much less numerous. But I did meet some great people and it was always interesting to examine why the dating service thought we were appropriate matches.
To get to the point of my story, one lady I went out with, called me after a very enjoyable date and said to me, I have one question that I want you to answer truthfully, are you a serial killer?
I thought she was joking, but she assured me that the question was in earnest. After I assured her that I had never been convicted, she told me that she had met some initially nice guys, who turned out to have backgrounds that would make one wonder why they were allowed to be out walking the streets.
While it is true that statistically speaking, there probably is not a large chance to get matched up with a serial killer, there certainly were other things that I discovered, that I wish had been revealed in a better screening method.
One person that I went out with several times, finally shared with me the fact that she was in the middle of a bankruptcy filing. If I had pursued this relationship, I could have lost all of my financial assets due to her poor money skills.
A different person had been involved in several damaging relationships and admitted that on several occasions, the police had served her with search warrants as her boyfriend at the time, was a known drug dealer and she had been named as an accomplice. In fact, once when she was arrested, she attempted to burn down the local sheriffs office. A third disastrous match met me on several occasions at a public location.
After a few dates, she started coming over to my house, but whenever I went to see her [she lived about 50 miles away] we continued to meet in public places. When I asked why we just did not go to her place, she responded that it was a private place in her life, that nobody was allowed to enter. I accepted this explanation at face value.Then I got a reality check. It turns out she was married and shared a residence with her husband. I got out of that situation as fast as I could.
Some time later, one of the same friends who convinced me to try internet dating, asked me why I did not do a background check on the people I was meeting. I was kind of surprised, as I thought the online service was supposed to be effective at screening out all of the wierdos, although in retrospect, they were not doing a very good job of it.
In any case, I found just such a service. I contacted a Dating Background Check Investigation Company and found they offered several dating background check options. I selected one and found out that it was easy and inexpensive, to verify addresses and public records on the people that I was meeting.
Although I was lucky in protecting my financial assets, if I had received a report when I was dating the lady filing bankruptcy, it would have helped me to avoid a potential disaster. Information regarding the criminal history of my accused drug dealing accomplice was there for anyone to discover, as it was a matter of public record.
The moral of this story is that there certainly is more information to learn, and it is easily obtainable when you are looking to make a lifetime commitment to someone that you meet online. You can be sure that this is one real person who has learned his lesson and always verifies the information that I am given.
