Cold sores also called fever blisters. Cold sores are caused by a viral infection that attacks the skin and nervous system. . Keep your cold sore dry. Regularly wash the area around the cold sore and pat it dry. Cold sore needs moisture and dirt to keep swelling. If they are kept clean and dry, healing will speed up. Shield cold sores with petroleum jelly using cotton swab to avoid swelling.
Use Witch Hazel - Witch Hazel is an herb that grows naturally in North America, Japan, and China. An extract of witch hazel is used for various medicinal purposes, including stopping the effects of cold sores. You can likely find it at your local health food store.

Practitioners claim that the healing process is accelerated by the application of volatile plant oils and essential oils, such as rose, tea tree, geranium, lemon balm and bergamot offer psychological and physical benefits to patients; the aroma stimulates the brain, while the constituents of the oil are drawn into the lungs and absorbed by the body.
