Acne troubles teenagers most. Acne causes lot of stress to the teenager. Their social interaction and self-confidence is affected by acne. What about stress and its potential to cause acne? It has been found that increased stress does increase acne breakouts.

Acne is caused when the sebaceous gland closes and the sebum is not allowed to pass on to the skin. This accumulated sebum infects the gland and inflammation sets in. with varying level of infection; you get different type of acne. The most severe being cystic and nodular acne.

Try to control your stress and you may be able to reduce acne. Do not get stressed if you get acne because that may worsen it. Do not try different recipes bandied on the Internet. Use proper medication that is available OTC. If you have severe acne, consult your doctor. Please keep this in mind that it takes time to clear acne. It does not go away in a couple of days. Popping acne will only worsen it and may cause scar. I have discussed the findings of the study in brief below.

A new study published in the Swedish journal Acta Dermato-Venereologica, researchers confirm that this is indeed so. The research was conducted in Singapore on teenagers. Their stress levels were measured and that was matched with the acne breakouts. Before exam and after exam stress levels were considered in the study.

The result findings suggest that stress increases acne breakouts. as sebum level changes depending on the weather, Singapore was chosen. Singapore has a quite consistent weather. The research found that sebum level did not change much during the tests, but acne breakouts did increases with stress.
