Will Myspace Lose To Facebook?

Myspace started the social networking revolution. After Myspace caught on the fancy of the users, there was no looking back. Myspace became a success story like of which no body had seen before. It became the google of social networks. Especially for users in North America and Europe, Myspace was the social network.
The success of Myspace brought in many other social networks. Prominent amongst them are Hi5, Friendster and Facebook. Out of these Facebook has been showing the progress that rivals that of Myspace. The question is will Facebook displace Myspace from the top position? Let us discuss about the differences.
1. Compared to the look and design Facebook has a serious look compared to Myspace. That does not attract many teenagers.
2. Facebook made a killing with applications. The developers were allowed to add their applications to Facebook and this brought in many users. Now every other network is doing this. This advantage of Facebook will slowly disappear.
3. Myspace allows a user to use comments, graphics, layouts and many other types of content from other websites. Facebook gives no such freedom. That is a big drawback with Facebook. If you desire to use something good found elsewhere, you can not use that on Facebook.
4. Layouts are the big attraction on Myspace. One can add any layout and change one's profile. That cannot be done on Facebook.
Myspace keeps growing everyday. Facebook also keeps growing. Some users have accounts on both the networks. It is for some body to go and interview these people and find out what they prefer. For now I think that looking at teenager preferences Myspace will always remain ahead.
It will be interesting to watch the behavior of both the players because both want to be on top. Internet technology thrives on innovation and one that innovates will win the war.
