DNA testing refers to a variety of methods of examining deoxyribonucleic acid, also known as DNA. DNA is blueprint of all living things. Every living cell contains DNA and the DNA governs the functioning of the entire organism. Because DNA is unique to each person, plant, etc., it can be studied to determine the relationship between two people, two pieces of a plant or to find out whether one sample matches another.

One of the most well-known DNA tests is a paternity test. Paternity DNA testing is used to establish if a man is the biological father of a child. This test is most often performed when a man denies paternity. Sometime he truly believes that he is not the father of the child, and other times he just does not want to be financially responsible for the child.

test for various illness, diseases, ancestry and many other things. Genetic test is the DNA analysis from the human body. In our DNA, there are various strands of code relating to hair color, height, eye color and of other related parts. It also consists of information related with illness and disease. Genetic tests can be performed before or after birth. In case of a genetic test before birth, the doctor takes some fluid from the mother's fetus or do a CVS to have material from placenta containing the genetic information. For genetic testing after birth, this is done using blood sample or by taking swab from the inside of the cheek. Some segments of the DNA do not change and it passes from generation to generation. This helps in paternity testing and also to determine earlier ancestry.

DNA testing is a very simple and affordable process. Various stages are involved in DNA testing. It is necessary to obtain the DNA samples that have to be verified. DNA testing requires only a few drops of blood or cheek cell specimens obtained by rubbing the inside of the mouth with a swab. Most companies provide a free kit to collect these samples at home.

The sample is then sent to a laboratory for analysis. The samples undergo a controlled procedure that includes extraction of cells from the swabs and purification and harvest of the DNA material found in the cells. The target regions of the DNA sample are copied, and the different target regions of DNA are separated from each other. The results of the DNA tests are then analyzed. Generally, the entire process is repeated to confirm the result, and a conclusive report is made after the confirmation of results.
