One of the most important things that we should do when we choose our children's toys is their safety. As it is always being said, 'safety always comes first.'

If you are not familiar at all with any safety measures of toys then you might as well learn them because toys are essential part of your kid's life and safety should be your priority with this.

The first thing you should do is to check all the labels of the toy's packaging and need all precautions indicated in each label. This is done to ensure that you know what the dos are and don'ts of a particular toy that your child has taken interest of. You must take heed all advices coming from product labels and religiously follow all instructions. Some toys have also included in their packaging on what you should do if and when something unexpected will happen.

You should ensure that you're there when your child is playing with his toy or if you can't be there, you need to make sure child is playing under adult supervision. Someone if not yourself should be there guiding them, each them and make sure they do not do anything unexpected with their toys.

Keep plastic bags of the toys packaging out of your children's reach. These plastic bags as you well may know can suffocate our children if they left with them unattended especially when they play with them instead of the toys coming from inside of them. Dispose them properly and do not leave them scattering on at your child's reach.

There are toys that are appropriate for child's age. Make sure you are aware that your child is playing a toy at par with his/her age. Some things are needed to be kept as a reminder especially for children under the age of three. And these are the big NO-NO's for their toys. Some of them are the following:

*Diameter of 1.75 inches or less. Anything that has a measure of 1.75 or even less are not appropriate for children under the age of three. As you well may know they are still at the oral stage where they look and they taste. This is part of their growth, part of their being as they sought for learning. Remember this always to prevent them from choking.

*Those that are easily break into pieces. Avoid toys that will easily break into small pieces not only because of the choking prevention but also because they can hurt your child especially it has a glass or brittle plastic components. It is essential part of choosing an appropriate toy for our children

*Small detachable parts. Do not buy toys that have small detachable parts pieces on them. They can easily break-off and they may still choke your child and can lodge themselves in the throat if left with them alone.

*Sharp point and edges. Toys that have pointed and sharp edges are not suitable for children to play. They can easily poke them may hurt them and most serious thing that could happen would be if they accidentally poke their eyes. It isn't hard to imagine that comes next after that.

There are still many things to remember in choosing safe toys for our kids. Their safety is the most important thing of all. You should always bear that in mind and keep it always as a safety reminder for you and for your kids.
