Interpretation of Results
The results can be read when reddish-purple lines appear in the Control region [C] and Test region [T]. The results are considered as negative when one reddish-purple line appears in Control region [C] and another reddish-purple line appears in Test region [T]. Even if the color of the two reddish-purple lines in Control region and Test region is light, results should be considered as negative. The negative result indicates that Oxycodone is present below cut off concentration of 100 ng/ml. The result should be interpreted as positive, when one line appears in Control region [C] and no line appears in Test region [T]. Positive result shows that Oxycodone is present in sample above the cut off concentration of 100 ng/ml. The result is considered as invalid if no line appears in Control region [C] and Test region [T] even after 10 minutes. In such case, testing should be performed with new strip. The result should also be considered as invalid if a line appears in test region [T] and no line appears in control region [C].
The positive result in urine drug testing indicates preliminary analytical results. More advanced techniques like Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry can be used for confirmatory purposes. A positive result cannot show concentration level of drug and route of administration. Whereas, negative result indicates that drug is present below cut-off concentration level and not completely drug free urine.
