Weddings are one of the most important occasions that can happen in a person s lifetime. This is a special day for the couple and for the people whom they invite to help them celebrate their day as well.

However, there is always that dilly dallying on the part of both the couple of the moment and their wedding guests with regard to proper decorum and observing proper etiquette. When a wedding invitation arrives, two major issues come to mind: what one should wear, what gift to get the couple.

Some who feel that they do not have what it takes to stand out or shine in that occasion would go as far as eventually deciding on not going. This is out of the confusion and fear of not being able to live up to society s standards of etiquette. To get the anxiety out of planning for the occasion as a guest here are some helpful pointers to help one prepare for the occasion, especially in the matter of gift giving.

First things first, upon arrival of the invitation, do not ignore the accompanying card that reads RSVP. Do the right thing, get it touch with the coordinator and give a proper response to the invitation. Your hosts have the right to know whether to expect your presence or not and so that they can act accordingly. Wedding guests should not take such invitations lightly. As an invited guest to a wedding, one needs to realize that the soon to be wed couple holds them in great esteem.

Next, check the invitation for guidelines on your hosts preferences for gifts. Since it is their special day, take this into account as not an imposition on their part. Rather, see this as their polite gesture to guide you properly into purchasing them a gift they deem appropriate to avoid offending or being offended by anyone.

One of the crucial points to remember is to distinguish properly when it is fitting to get a wedding gift and when it is deemed as unnecessary. If a guest decides to grace the couple with his or her presence, it should go without saying that he or she should bring a them a wedding gift. Should a guest decide not to attend, it is also appropriate that one send the couple a wedding gift. The only exception to the rule is when the guest has not been in communication with the bride and groom for a number of years.

Now comes the important part which wedding gift to buy for the couple. Things to consider are a guest s relationship to the couple and a guest s budget. The details surrounding the intricacies of weddings has evolved with the times. The wedding gift registry is among these great innovations. Wedding gift registries can be of great help to the host couple and their guests as well. Couples have fun choosing the items they wish to receive on their wedding. By going over the list, guests get an idea of the taste level of the soon to wed couple. Moreover, wedding gift registries are very useful in helping guests avoid choosing gifts similar to those already chosen by others.

However complicated these rules might seem, guests should not at all feel compelled to buy a wedding gift for the couple. They should not let these details divert their attention to the real purpose of the occasion which is to toast the new couple.
