First launched in the mid 90's, Mannatech's Ambrotose created huge interest as the first proprietary glyconutrient. The very cornerstone technology of the range, made with Aloe vera and other natural ingredients. Ambrotose can be found in most of Mannatech's products. Other products include a range of tablets, powdered drinks and bars. 1994 saw the U.S Congress act to inhibit overregulation of supplements like Mannatech's by the FDA, a move which many health professionals have embraced at a time when we as a society are demanding more pure alternatives to healthcare.

Mannatech operates in America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. A publically traded corporation (NASDAQ - MTEX), Mannatech has been awarded many awards including, #5 Ranking in America's "200 Best Small Companies" (Forbes, October 30, 2006) and Business Week’s list of “Hot Growth 100 Small Companies.” (Business Week, June 6, 2005). With 43 worldwide patents on their technology and many peer reviews from scientific sources such as Medical News Today and Pubmed, Mannatech is a trusted name in healthcare today.

"To most effectively meet our ambitious research goals, we collaborate with top-notch researchers around the world." said Dr R L Madella. (MPH and Global Clinical Research manager), confirming Mannatech's commitment to science.

Healthy adults have shown significant improvement in their perceptual capabilities during independant double blind studies.- (Stancil AN, Hicks LH. Glyconutrients and perception, cognition, and memory. Perceptual Motor Skills 2009; 10:259-270.)
Brain waves have also been enhanced during some clinical trials. Tests showed that subjects who injested Ambrotose had increased levels of attention and alertness.- (Wang C, Szabo JS, Dykman RA. Effects of a carbohydrate supplement upon resting brain activity. Integr Physiol Behav Sci 2004; 39(2):126-138.)
Concentration and reaction times were increased in yet another study,- (Wang C, Pivik RT, Dykman RA. Effects of a glyconutritional supplement on brain potentials associated with language processing. Federation Proceedings: Experimental Biology Meeting, New Orleans, Louisiana, April 20-24. 1-4. 4-20-2002.)
Glyconutrients have even been shown to increase memory capabilities- (Best T, Kemps E, Bryan J. The impact of saccharide supplementation on cognition and mood in middle-aged adults. Presented at the 36th Annual International Neuropsychological Society Meeting, February 6-9, 2008, Waikoloa, Hawaii 2008.)

It is hard to believe that in the face of all this support for the beneficial results of using Mannatech's products, there is however an overwhelming amount of irritated consumers. Conceivably over-zealous salesmen are to attribute for the hype surrounding Mannatech's Ambrotose, or maybe simply despairing people hopeful for a miracle cure haven't read the research and expected results; afterall results will surely differ for everyone depending on their lifestyle and diet. Surely even such cutting edge supplements can do no more than enhance the body's natural ability to cure itself, which will of course take time.

Many reviews I have read say something like "I tried it for 3 months, it was too expensive and it didn't work". The cost of research and development for cutting edge products can run to hundreds of millions of dollars which of course makes them quite expensive. Mannatech rely's on word of mouth to move their product, in return customers can get their own product paid for and even make decent money. This of course all sounds good, however the truth is that 97% of people fail in network marketing. This doesn't mean that the system is flawed; simply that again some peoples expectations are not realistic. There is no such thing as a "get rich quick" plan, but there are many ways to run a business.

While I do believe that many will succeed with Mannatech and reap the rewards of health and riches. There will most certainly be many, many others for whom the upfront cost, combined with the monthly commitment will simply be too much to manage and will miss out. Many of these people will be very unwell and perhaps the most in need, so despite Mannatech's good intentions, generosity and even a 180 day money back guarantee, people will always feel hard done by and seek to asign fault.

This superfood may not be superfluous, but is out of reach for many. A diet rich in fresh fruit and vegetables, regular exercise and supermarket supplements may not be Mannatech's equal, but it's a good start. Remember to do your own due diligence before committing, and when you make a decision, stick to it. It's your life!
