Are you planning a trip and want to take kitty with you? A cat carrier is a necessity in this case. Although you can find expensive carriers, you can also find models made of cardboard that are very affordable. Find out why your kitty needs to be confined when in your car.
Your pet's safety is a primary concern. If your pet is loose, a quick stop could cause him or her to be injured when slammed against a seat or worse, completely ejected from the car in an accident. Your animal could also strike you causing you to be hurt, too. An unconfined cat could cause distractions for you. One scenario is that kitty could catch sight of a dog while you are driving and panic. An unrestrained cat could end up under your feet and create issues for you when you try to brake. Kitty may like riding in your lap, but a deployed airbag could end his or her life.
Comfort is also a concern. Kitties prefer enclosed spaces when they are in unfamiliar territory. Since they are more comfortable, they may even fall asleep. They won't be as likely to spot a dog or another evil that will send them into a panic.
Messes are another issue. Unfortunately, some kitties get stressed when in the car. This could cause vomiting, urinating or bowel movements. You will have an easier time cleaning up this type of mess from a crate rather than carpeting in your cat. You are likely to not have as much fur flying around your vehicle, too.
You also need to think about how you will get the cat out of the car and to your destination. Kitty might not be easy to carry, especially if you are going somewhere like the vet. He or she could also get away from you and end up lost.
Do you have several pets that you need to transport at the same time? A separate crate for each one is best. Fights won't be an issue then. If there is an accident, you won't have to worry about them getting hurt from striking each other if they are in separate crates.
A cat carrier is critical for your pet's safety and comfort as well as to help you confine any messes that may occur while you are on the road. The ride will be safer for the humans in the vehicle, too.
