If you are interested in the premiership of Tony Blair, Amazon will be as good a place as any to seek out the recently published, must read Tony Blair book, entitled "A Journey". If you've looked over "The Third Man: Life at the Heart of New Labour" by Peter Mandelson you will have realized that Blair's account follows quite a similar path.

Tony Blair seems to be public enemy number 1 presently, but I find it hard to agree that his ten years in charge of Britain were as bad as is being made out. After all, Labour's famous election victory in 1997, where they conquered the Conservatives by the biggest election swing in political history, could hardly have been a fluke could it? I am in no way saying that Blair was blameless in the futile war with Iraq, but just remember that the vast majority of the House of Commons actually voted to take us into war. Think about why is it that Thatcher was claimed to be a hero for defeating an already demoralised Argentinian army in a pointless war, 1000s of miles away and totally not related to the interest of the United Kingdom?

We have seen many inquiries since Iraq and all of the evidence suggests that his judgement, however deluded, was based on specialist research. To say that Blair deliberately fooled the house of commons is basically incorrect. It was Blair who was deceived, not Parliament. Additionally it is worth pointing out that Blair is actually far more like Clinton then he is Bush and the camaraderie with Clinton was a lot more genuine.

I have read this book (unlike, I'm certain most of the creators of the negative critiques which i have read) and can truthfully state that it seems to be a true description of proceedings, written in a fluent and stylish way. Blair makes the reader seem that you are in a one on one exchange with him, not a simple accomplishment! The whole publication is composed in such a way so as to easily be understood without sacrificing any of its intellectual "meat".

It is true that Blair's vanity sometimes got in the way, but show me an effective chief who didn't have an inflated ego. In my opinion, it's imperative that the leader must have a large ego, which is basically another way of saying that they should be super-confident.

And so Blair was obviously a self-confident and remarkable leader and I do not think I'm exaggerating when i state that Britain misses him. Obama, Cameron and Brown all have had the chance to put right the west's activities in the Middle East but none have been brave enough to do something about it. It appears to me personally that Blair has been made a scapegoat by many deluded people that should probably search somewhere else for one. Tony Blair is fundamentally a decent, truthful family man, which is plain to see when reading this publication.
