Actor Tony Danza is a former celebrity of such sitcoms as 'Taxi' and 'Who's the Boss?', but it is been a long time since he had a major hit. (Although he does have his film career as the star of films such as 'Going Ape!' to fall back on.)

Nonetheless, Tony does have a new reality series coming up: 'Teach' -- that will certainly premiere in Oct on the A&E Network. It follows a year in the life of Mr. Danza, as he struggles to teach a class of 10th-grade English students. Tony invested in a year in Northeast High School in Philadelphia, which was not merely an arbitrary choice for him.

Before he became an actor, Tony got a bachelor's degree in education. On 'The Oprah Winfrey Show' the acting professional discussed his brand new short-term career. He discussed what he learned, exactly what his students realized -- and he also mentioned how he got a little weepy.

Yep, Tony was apparently a pretty emotional teacher who cried a great deal in front of his students. "One day, I cried over origami," he told Oprah Winfrey Okay, then. You cried over the age-old art of Japanese paper folding, Tony? Oprah tries to determine exactly what it was about origami that made Tony tear up, however the story is pretty complicated. As far as we can tell, he is merely a fairly emotional person who took his job rather seriously.

Tony talks about not wanting to flunk his students, that is often what made him want to tear up. "It just gets to you ... You look over to see a kid bored, a kid with their head lowered, you decide to go crazy, it smashes your heart. I cried a lot; they made me weep -- because I cherished them, I guess."

Aw -- that is really sweet. We want to bring up just two small points here. One, even though Mr. Danza talks about teaching as his "dream job," he just did it for the year that he was compensated to be on A&E -- which ... well, you can draw your own conclusions here.

As well as our second point: After originally being rejected by the Ny school system, Danza ultimately persuaded the people in Pennsylvania to let him teach. However, he never actually went about getting licensed as a real teacher. Therefore he needed a second "co-teacher" in the classroom, who would observe and monitor him. Additionally, due to his lack of certification, Tony only taught two classes each day. (Actual high school teachers have to teach between four and seven classes per day.)

Therefore while I am not denying Tony's passion and his passion for his students, we must question if he was 100 percent performing the activities of an actual teacher -- or if it was just sort of faked for reality TV purposes. And also, would you want a non-certified actor educating your kids for an entire year? Exactly what do you think? Did Tony do a good job? Or had been it more of a reality-show theme
