The World Series of Poker is a gambling event that may be the most popular gambling event of any in the world at this point. The World Series of Poker features a collection of the best poker players in the world putting their skills against the other top players in the world. The tournament was traditionally held in Binion’s Horseshoe and started out with just a relatively small number of players. Over the years the event has grown to incorporate tons of players and prize money totals that for exceed the totals for the champions in the old days.

The World Series of Poker in 2006 was an event that showed the change that was coming in the World Series of Poker. While every year previously the final round was held in the same place, they decided that the final round of the World Series of Poker would be held elsewhere. In 2006 the final round of the main event was held at the Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Whereas the prize money in past years was a million dollars to the winner, the prize money far exceeded those scanty totals in 2006. The winner was scheduled to bring home a whopping 12 million dollars. This was the largest prize that was ever available in the history of the World Series of Poker. Not only was this the largest prize for the World Series of Poker, it was also the largest prize for the winner of a televised event in the history of television. Whereas in past years only one player would win a million dollars, this year featured 12 players that would bring home at least a million dollars.

The main event is a game of No-Limit Texas Hold ‘em. This is the most popular event and that is why it’s considered to be the main event, but it is by no means the only event at the tournament. There are actually 45 other events in the tournament. The other events are different variations of Hold ‘em and other types of poker. These prizes are much smaller than the main event, but there are still plenty of players that bring home significant money from these smaller tournaments. There was even a smaller event that managed to provide a prize of more than 1.7 million dollars.

The top players in the World Series of Poker from 2006 included the likes of Dan Nassif, Erik Friberg, Douglas Kim, Richard Lee, Rhett Butler, Allen Cunningham, Michael Binger, Paul Wasicka and Jamie Gold.

The top winner of this group was Jamie Gold. Gold brought home the enormous prize of 12 million dollars. Wasicka was next in line and brought in about half as much as Gold, bringing home 6.1 million dollars. Michael Binger was in third place and still brought home a hefty sum. His total winnings were 4.1 million dollars for placing third. Allen Cunningam and Rhett Butler finished in 4th and 5th respectively. They both earned payouts of more than 3 million dollars apiece for their stellar play in the tournament.
