The Top Reasons Why Wedding Venues in Devon are so Popular
For those who are thinking about planning where to get married and finding suitable wedding venues, many consider breath-taking scenery, stunning views and unique locations amongst the top deciding factors. It’s one of the reasons why the county of Devon is such a popular choice for many couples. Famous for having a friendly and warm atmosphere, Devon has a unique range of options when considering planning the perfect wedding. If taking your wedding vows with scenery such as Dartmoor National Park or the English Channel as your back-drop gets you excited, then Devon is probably the place for you.

Stunning Scenery and a Touch of Romance
Devon benefits from having some of the most awe inspiring scenery in the UK. What’s more, the county also boasts a seaside view of the English Channel, Dartmoor National Park, Exmoor National Park, and has its own fair share of Country Estates. Not forgetting the South Devon coast often referred to as The English Riviera, which has Global Geo-park status and the beautiful historic city of Exeter, with one of the oldest Cathedrals in the UK. Devon is also famous for being the inspiration behind gothic romantic novels such as “The Thief of Virtue”, “A Book of Dartmoor” and the most famous of all “The Hound of the Baskervilles”. Devon truly is a romantic county to celebrate your special day.

A Great Choice of Wedding Venue Options
Devon provides you with a great choice of wedding venue options. These include upmarket chain hotels, quaint hidden Inns and churches in village locations, a spectacular Cathedral in Exeter, and there are a few castles too, some dating back centuries. Not forgetting the many beachside hotels & restaurants often affording spectacular views, each with its own unique history. This exhaustive range of different options means that there is a venue for every type and style of wedding. It’s definitely worthwhile investing your time and energies researching the range of hotels and different venue types. Getting married in Devon guarantees a wedding day to remember. As far as the location and backdrop, the South West clearly has much to offer.

The Right Location
First, create your shortlist. Maybe the coast and a beach bbq informal celebration isn’t exactly what you had in mind. Perhaps a traditional wedding at a county house hotel with a grand marquee on the lawn and far-reaching rural views is more your style? Or a village church wedding, filled with flowers, family and friends - something small and intimate.

Look for Individuality, Personal Service and Atmosphere
Devon is a place that most fall in love with on their first visit. If a romantic country house hotel set in acres of land with gardens, orchards and tranquil views sounds interesting, we recently attended a wedding at a country house Hotel near Tavistock overlooking the Tamar Valley. With a reputation built over many years for outstanding food, service and panoramic views of Dartmoor National Park, we were not disappointed. With a gracious welcome offered to all, the food in the restaurant was equally refined. Roaring log fires and generous hospitality created the ideal atmosphere. They also had a marquee and the whole venue offered a wonderful sense of occasion – something that’s difficult to find in larger hotels. Exquisitely designed rooms, amazing views and attentive staff - it’s the individuality, personal service and outstanding location that made this wedding venue in Devon stand out.

Beautiful Scenery and a Warm Welcome
So if you are lucky to be engaged and looking for a place to get married, do consider the County of Devon as your ideal location. Beautiful scenery, a rich history, and a warm and welcoming atmosphere awaits you regardless of the season.
